Abstract

Six components of time averaged Reynolds stress and mean flow field were measured in the model wind tunnel simulating leakage vortex of the turbomachinery. Reynolds stresseses are transformed into their principal coordinate, in which a component of maximum eigenvalue is expressed by a cylinder projected onto the measuring plane. Lateral vortex under adverse pressure condition shows wake like structure while the vortex under no-pressure gradient exhibits no-interference structure with mainstream. Correlation of Reynolds stress and rate of strain tensor is evaluated to express the spatial arrangement of these tensors. Production of turbulent kinetic energy distributes mainly in the shear layers of the leakage jet.
