Abstract
Thoracic aortic dissection has a high fatality rate, and the number of fatalities has tendency to increase with advancing age. Because of our fast-aging society, it is a problem calling for immediate solution. It is difficult to recognize the exact structure of the 3D blood flow with measurement existing. Besides, because we cannot set precise boundary condition of living body, computer simulation is not a complete tool to analyze real blood flows. Our research group had propounded a new solution, integrating together ultrasonic-measurement and CFD to investigate blood flows, which is called Ultrasonic-Measurement-Integrated (UMI) Simulation. Usability of UMI simulation has been confirmed by numerical experiment in former studies. In this report, experimental system consisting of a PVA hydro-gel straight pipe model and constant head flow tank was developed, and fundamental experiment to confirm the performance of the ultrasound measurement device was performed. In parallel with experiment, a numerical experiment with axisymmetric straight pipe model was performed. In this report, we confirmed characteristics of the ultrasound measurement to the PVA model in experiment and usability of the UMI simulation in numerical experiment.
