Abstract
A coupled optimal aerodynamic design method of rotor and wind-lens for wind-lens turbine has been developed. In the present method, the aerodynamic design for the wind-lens turbine rotor is based on a two-dimensional blade element design and an axisymmetric viscous flow analysis. The shapes of rotor and wind-lens are optimized simultaneously by genetic algorithm. The present design method generated high performance wind-lens turbines. Three-dimensional Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulation shows that new wind-lens turbines designed by the present design method are superior to conventional one in the total performance.
