Anomalous flow properties of rod-like micelle surfactant solutions passing thorugh micro-orifices

Abstract

Anomalous pressure drops of surfactant solutions were obtained in the previous study. However, mechanism was not clear. In this situation, pressure drops with constant flow rate of two types of surfactant solutions passing thorugh micro-orifices were measured because of investigating flow properties of surfactant solutions passing through small apertures. The experimental results of water agreed with the numerical prediction. On the other hand, anomalous ones of surfactant solutions were obtained. It found that the resultant ones were dependance on the types of surafactants. Furthermore, we discussed relationship between the pressure drop and Weissenberg number.
