Abstract
In order to examine optimum autofrettage method for thick-walled pressure vessel, elastic-plastic analysis was conducted by using of a finite element method (FEM). The effect of autofrettage method, internal pressure and swage autofrettage, on residual stress was examined for the cylindrical pressure vessel. Both analytical results showed almost equivalent autofrettage effect. To obtain effective autofrettage procedure for the pressure vessel with four holes, the analysis of autofrettage for the internal pressure method was also carried out.
