Motor vehicles are required to achieve both weight reduction and collision safety. Therefore, it is necessary for the crash box to obtain excellent impact energy absorbing performance. In this research, CFRTP crash box mixed with PA66 and CFRP has excellent in specific strength and specific rigidity. CAE analysis has been done for impact absorption of CFRTP crash box. Dynamic and static impact tests were also performed. The fracture mechanism was investigated by the microscopic morphology on the fracture surface of CFRTP, and PA66 crash box. It was found that CAE is well matched both deformed shape and the impact load. Compared to PA66, shock absorption performance was found to be excellent in CFRTP. As a result of SEM observation, CFRTP in which fibers are randomly arranged proved to have high impact absorption capability. Thus, CFRTP has high degree of freedom of shape and excellent performance as a shock absorbing crash box.
