Abstract
Effect of hardening treatment on the impact erosion of liquid/solid metals interface was investigated by using modified SHPB (Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar) technique. The hardening treatments were carried out by PVD-implantation coating and Kolsterising surface improving method. The impact erosion strength exhibits good correlation with the hardness measured under a certain indentation load that is related to the magnitude of impact. As a result, the hardening treatment is expectable to reduce the damage due to impact erosion.
