Abstract
The surface affected layer, such as burr, residual stress and work hardening, appears on the cut surface and sub-surface of ductile materials represented by metals. This study aims to develop a cutting tool, which enables to generate a local hydrostatic pressure field in the vicinity of the cutting point to suppress the extra plastic deformation. In this paper, a molecular dynamics simulation model for such a cutting method is proposed. In the proposed cutting model, a rectangular plate jig with a small rectangular hole is attached to a cutting tool in order to introduce a localized high-hydrostatic pressure in the vicinity of the cutting point. In this report, a cutting simulation is performed to analyze the internal stress of the workpiece.
