Abstract
The demand for high-precision machining of thin wall parts and lower rigid parts by miniaturization and weight reduction of industrial products is increasing. However, the workpieces are deformed by chucking force in traditional chucking methods such as machine vice, vacuum chuck and electromagnetic chuck. Therefore, a development of a chucking device which does not act a force directly on the workpiece is necessary. We developed an air cooling ice chuck for milling machine using a peltier element based on a constructed design manual. In this report, the temperature characteristics of a chucking plate by cooling method of the high temperature side of peltier element are clarified by analytical method and experiment.
