For the current Maisotsenko cycle based humidification dehumidification desalination system, thermodynamic analysis is performed where steady state conditions are assumed. Mass balance, salt balance, energy balance and entropy balance equations are solved in order to determine the performance parameters of the system. The thermodynamic model is validated with the experimental work, and good agreement is found between both with the maximum relative error of approximately 6%. It is found that higher amount of desalinated water is produced as the air flow rate increases. It is also seen that as the mass flow rate ratio increases, the performance decreases. The variation of entropy generation rate versus mass flow rate ratio is also discussed.
