Abstract
This paper describes dynamic analysis of a dual-slider type active head slider with a piezoelectric actuator for flying height. Tracking ability of the slider and the head to normal vibration and microwaviness of the disk surface has been investigated using a three-degree-of-freedom slider model and the MGL(molecular gas film lubrication) theory. It is found that the air-bearing pad below the head generating negative pressure is superior to the one generating positive pressure to improve the tracking ability.
