Abstract

The next hybrid generation in cars will have more and more the character of a pure electric car. The plug-in hybrids are the future. What is the role of the conventional ic-engine in these cars? They are responsible for smaller (and cheaper) batterie and take care for “normal” driving range of the cars.
What are the requirements to the transmission for the ic-engine of this hybrid-drivelines and for the electric engine? The paper will show that the outline of separate transmissions for both engines is more efficient than a common transmission for both engines. A method for a two separate transmission for every engine and a summation at the differential will be better, smaller, lighter and more efficient than one common transmission. The presentation will introduce the equations for calculation the ratio spread, number and ratio of the gears in the “electric transmission” and the “ic-engine-transmission”.
