Abstract
The conventional driving simulator which has 6 degree-of-freedom parallel link mechanism usually has a motion cue based on acceleration feeling as used in the flight simulator. This type of motion cue in driving simulator needs a long transitional rail to realize a quick motion, because the transient response of car is much faster than aircraft. This paper proposes a new motion cue algorithm for improving longitudinal sensation in driving simulator. The new motion cue algorithm is not based on acceleration sensation but on jerk sensation to simulate such a quick transient response. The effect of a new algorithm on driver feeling is investigated by the experiment using driving simulator.
