Abstract
This paper describes a study of Junction-Crowth phenomenon. The Junction-Growth is the increment of Real Contact Area by combined normal and tangential stresses. In sliding elements, metal to metal contacts occur when the lubricant film breaks. If the shear strength of such a contacted point is sufficiently strong, so called Junction-Growth is accompanited to yield severe wear or scuffing. The present authors consider the Junction-Growth of a conical asperity model with attention to the cone angle, load level and contact area.
