Abstract
The size controlling of atomic clusters can be realized by using local confinement effect with a laser induced shock wave. In the present report, the experiment of cluster formation with a laser ablation method and the analysis about the laser induced shock wave were conducted. Behavior of the shock wave inside the cluster cell was investigated with ICCD camera and TOF measurement system, comparing to the results from the thermo dynamics on the target surface as well as the continuous fluid dynamics for the gas and vapor. As a result, the shock wave confinement in the cell was recognized and so the cluster size control will be successfully performed on the next step.
