Abstract
Electrorheological (ER) fluids undergo a change in apparent viscosity upon application of electric field. ER slurry, which is composed of ER fluid and agrasive grains, is available for efficient polishing or finishing. In this study, we propose selective polishing or finishing control with ER slurry and unilateral (or one-sided) patterned electrodes. This paper presents the fundemental research for selective polishing or finishing control.
