Abstract
In this study, the dynamic response of a piezoelectric half-plane containing an internal or an edge crack perpendicular to the boundary under a normal impact is considered. The Laplace and Fourier transform techniques are used to formulate the problem in term of a singular integral equation. The singular integral equation is solved by using the Gauss-Jacobi integration formula. Numerical calculations are carried out, and the effects of the geometric parameters and the piezoeletric material properties on the dynamic energy density factors of an internal or an edge crack are shown graphically.
