Abstract
This study focuses on the flow characteristics of multi-port burner, aiming at the development of the low-Nox combustion technologies for compact boilers or gas-turbines. Multi-port burner consists of many small ports which issue the air-fuel mixed gas. Then, the flow fields at the burner exit becomes complicated unlike in the case of a single jet. The flow fields has an important role for the stable and low-Nox combustion in this type of burner. Then, flow visualization experiments using a cold model and the numerical simulation are conducted to understanding the flow characteristics, especially the merge of the jet flow and the re-circulation flow, at multi-port burner exit. The experimental and calculation results show the flow pattern decided by the arrangement of multi-port and momentum flux ratios.
