Abstract
Synchronous belts are mainly used for not only power transmission fields but also purpose for the accurate positioning or rotation like that camshaft drives of the engine, robot arm drives, positioning of punch press and CT scanners, etc. In this study, the effects of manufacturing error of belt and pulley, polygon actions of the pulley, meshing interference of belt and pulley teeth and backlash between belt tooth and pulley tooth, etc. on the positioning error of the carriage of the toothed belt drives are experimentally and analytically discussed.
