Abstract
The new post-processing system for diesel particulate matter (PM), which utilizes the transportation effects of oxygen ion in a solid electrolyte under the impressed voltage, has been proposed. In this system PM is deposited on the anode side of the solid electrolyte and PM is oxidized by the oxygen ion from cathode, open to atmosphere. The experiments were conducted to clarify if the system was valid for PM reduction system by using yttrium-stabilized zirconia as the solid electrolyte. The result suggests that the proposed system has the possibility as the next generation post-processing system for diesel particulate matter.
