Abstract
In order to clarify the tool wear of (Ti,W,Si)N coated cemented carbide in the cutting of SCr420H, the wear progress of (Ti,W,Si)N coated cemented carbide tool is experimentally investigated. The base metal of the coated cemented carbide tool is cemented carbides JIS K10. The main results obtained are as follows: (1) Both the micro-hardness and the critical load of (Ti,W,Si)N coated cemented carbide tool are higher than those of TiN, (Ti,Al)N, (Ti,V)N coated cemented carbide tool. (2) In the cutting of SCr420H, the wear progress of (Ti,W,Si)N coated cemented carbide tool is slower than that of TiN, (Ti,Al)N, (Ti,V)N coated cemented carbide tool. It is found that the (Ti,W,Si)N can be used as a coating material of cutting tool.
