Abstract

We have designed multi-span beam type absorber consisting of a beam and multiple visco-elastic materials that are mounted to the primary beam in order to suppress a particular mode of the primary beam. In our previous study, we found that this type of absorber can change vibration reduction effect by changing the number of the visco-elastic materials mounted with an equal span. In this study, we attempt to search better and optimal supporting positions of the visco-elastic materials than those with an equal span, by numerical analysis based on continuous system theory.
