Abstract

A short square plate subjected to axial flow vibrates in a locally narrow passage. It vibrates depending on a ralative position and on a gap width between the square plate and a circular plate with flow path. The purpose of this research is to investigate the mechanism of the flow-induced vibration of the square plate in axial flow. We set up a device and examined the vibration experimentally. Results showed that the square plate had three types of vibration.
