In recent years, demand for wind power generation has increased due to the requirements for renewable energy. Compared to large wind turbines, the micro wind turbines used in urban areas have lower power generation efficiency (power coefficient) because they are used in low wind speed environments. Therefore, this study focused on the winglet (WL) at the tip of the wind turbine blades to improve the power coefficient. This study investigates the relationship between the design parameters such as WL height, taper, and twist angle and wind turbine performance for a low tip speed ratio type horizontal axis wind turbine with winglets. Also, the winglets with Bayesian optimization was tested. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the power coefficient was improved by 16% compared to the wind turbine without winglets.
