Abstract
The SHINANSHIN means the south seeking needle using magnet. In this paper, the evolution from the SHINANSHIN to the Magnetic compass is described. The process in which the prototype of magnetic compass which was born in China changed in present magnetic compass was examined. The magnetic compass makes the chance which meets great navigation times, and it is the important instrument which deduced the history of the navigation safely.
