Abstract
In this study, airflow rate of the piezoelectric fan for cooling electric devices has been investigated experimentally in order to establish better fan design principle. Airflow velocity generated by a vibrating rectangular plate have been measured with hot-wire anemometer and consequently airflow rate were calculated in terms of obtained velocity fields. The measurements were carried out using the plates that dimensions were 30 to 60mm in width by 20 to 40mm in length by 0.1 to 0.4mm in thickness. These experimental results led to an empirical formula that made possible to predict airflow rate of piezoelectric fan with plate configurations and vibrating conditions.
