Abstract
This paper deals with mechanism of excitation in a curved fluid-conveying pipe. First, the planar vibration of the curved pipe due to the pulsating internal flow is observed experimentally. In this observation, vibration in the first mode should be noted. Moreover to examine the mechanism of this excitation, the articulated pipe, which was composed of the three rigid straight pipes was considered. Furthermore the excitation mechanism of the vibration of the curved pipe in the first mode was clarified theoretically and experimentally using the articulated pipe.
