Abstract
To clarify the effect of the surface roughness on hemolysis quantitatively, flow behavior in the rotational shear stressor provided surface roughness that can load shear on blood was quantified by computational fluid dynamic analysis. As a result, around the surface roughness around 1 micro-meter, as the surface roughness increased, the maximum shear stress increased despite the velocity profiles hardly changes and the correlation with hemolysis was predicted.
