Abstract
When rubber rubs a plate-like object, friction-induced vibration is generated. And it often causes noise problems. This paper investigates the effects of some parameters on the stability using an analytical model in which the rubber is supported by elastic beam and Coulomb's friction is assumed. The results demonstrate that the unstable vibration occurs when the length of the beam is short. This corresponds qualitatively with the experimental results.
