Abstract
Closed-type centrifugal pumps with single-blade are used as a sewage pump widely However, the closed-type single-blade centrifugal impeller is acted on a large radial thrust during the pump operation because the impeller is geometrically asymmetric In addition, the axial thrust is expected to act outside of the rear shroud and front shroud in the closed-type impeller Therefore when the reliability of the pump is secured, it is necessary to grasp the hydrodynamic force quantitatively and elucidate the behavior This study investigated the behavior of the axial thrust on a single-blade centrifugal impeller, consideration of the leakage flow outside of the rear shroud and front shroud by CFD analysis As a result, the axial thrust of the hydraulic part is the smallest, and the rear shroud part and front shroud part are dominant Increase of the axial thrust of the rear shroud part and front shroud part is due to the increase of the leakage flow rate with the increase in the circumferential static pressure distribution of the impeller The axial thrust of the hydraulic part is a dominant momentum component, which was partially offset by the pressure component
