Abstract
Flow in a symmetrically bifurcated channel was simulated. The channel consists of an introduction channel and two branch channels, the cross-sectional areas of which are congruent and high aspect ratio rectangular, the channel is bifurcated in the wide side direction in the cross-sectional area. The flow in the narrow side direction in the cross-sectional area is strongly restricted but is generated around the bifurcation point . When the bifurcated flows are asymmetric, a part of fluid that is about to enter into the low flow rate side branch channel rereases and flows into the high flow rate side branch channel. This flow secondarily generates the flows into the center plane from both walls in the narrow side direction, which influences the developing process of the flow in the branch channel.
