Abstract
Water balance in the anion exchange membrane fuel cell (AEMFC) is totally different from that in PEMFC and different ways of water management are needed. In this study, the influence of hydrogen humidity on the output voltage, the current density distribution and the behavior of generated liquid water were experimentally investigated using a single cell setup with seven subdivided cells and visualization facility. Results showed that the output voltage was more stable and that liquid water generation was better suppressed in the case of dry hydrogen compared with humidified hydrogen. The results also showed that the current density distribution from inlet to exit was relatively uniform in the case of dry hydrogen compared with humidified hydrogen.
