Abstract
We have studied a heat flux sensing method on an inner wall of a gasoline engine with the MEMS technology to reveal heat transfer mechanism and mitigate a heat loss. The purpose of the study is to develop the heat flux sensor with the MEMS technology, which features fast response, spatial resolution, high accuracy and multi-points simultaneous detection and durable for the engine research. After testing the heat flux measurement method with a MEMS heat flux sensor on Si substrate, a prototype of the MEMS sensor on SUS substrate has been produced. Heat flux measurement experiment in a premixed gas combustion system was conducted with both the Si type and SUS type sensor. Both sensors indicated a similar heat flux trends but an inconsistency in heat flux amount of about two times.
