Abstract

There is a latent heat storage technology utilizing the phase change of a substance as one of the thermal energy storage technologies. In this study, an attention was paid to fatty acids (capric acid, lauric acid and myristic acid) and their mixture having unique phase change characteristics in a normal temperature range as a working fluid. They are also easy to handle and are less influenced on human body. The thermo-physical properties (specific gravity, density, viscosity, melting point, freezing point, degree of supercooling, specific heat) of the mixture of fatty acids as a phase change thermal storage material was measured in order to establish a new multistage latent heat storage type heat exchange system that effectively utilizes low energy such as industrial and household waste heat.

As a result, the following was clarified. Thermo-physical properties and its temperature dependence of the mixture in the liquid phase state were evaluated. They were newly proposed as a heat transfer database.
