Abstract

The thin multi-blade fan is used for a steam discharge unit that discharges high temperature steam from a rice cooker, a pot, and the like. It is expected that demand will increase as the product becomes more compact, but its noise characteristics are not clear. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the noise characteristics of thin multiblade fans, and investigated the noise characteristics and internal flow by noise test, numerical fluid analysis and acoustic analysis. As a result, in the casing tongue (θ = 50.5 °), vortices were generated from two locations on the hub side and the tip side. The vortex generated from the hub side increased the acoustic power level in the vicinity of θ = 60 °. The vortex generated from the tip side revealed that the acoustic power level is large from the casing tongue portion to the vicinity of θ = 115 °, and among them, it is the largest in the vicinity of θ = 63 °.
