Abstract
In this paper, a new principle of Bio-Fuel Cell based on photosynthesis/metabolism without using any mediator was proposed. This bio-fuel cell was named Direct Photo-Synthetic/Metabolic Bio-Fuel Cell (DPMFC) which has a new and simple structure for portable applications. This DPMFC, using polyaniline instead of mediator, succeeded in generating peak current density of more than 35μA/cm^2 with a 10-Ω load, 1.1μW/cm^2 of max power density. This performance is competitive enough with another kind of bio-fuel cell. The benefits of DPMFC are: its ability to produce power in dark/light, un-harmful to living things and no necessity to supply fuel.
