Abstract
This paper describes one of calibration methods of geometric deviations inherent to multi-tasking turning centers with a swivel tool-spindle head. Simultaneous four-axis motion and five-axis motion can be reduced the measurement number and time as compared with the simultaneous three-axis motion which needs six measurements. The proposed four and five-axis motion techniques require three measurements changing the test conditions. As the results, four-axis motion is superior to five-axis motion from the view point of the identification accuracy. However, if the errors such as pitch error of worm-gear exist in the measured trajectory, the accuracy of a few deviations is considerably deteriorated.
