Abstract
In order to increase motion accuracy of NC machine tools, their feed drive systems are required to minimize the errors caused by control delay and friction. In this research, we analyze the errors and propose a compensation method using a reference model. In the method, the contour error is reduced by tuning the response of the reference model according to the desired accuracy level. Moreover, a friction-compensating method using the state of the reference model is introduced. The effectiveness of the proposed method on improvement of the motion accuracy is examined by an experiment.
