Abstract
The diffusion of digital electronic devices such as optical disk devices and digital cameras leads to an increasing demand for the optical lenses. The optical lenses are assorted to plastic lenses and glass lenses according to the materials. The glass lenses have several advantages of its excellent optical properties and number of variations. However, some glass lenses require grinding and polishing process for those productions. We used a unique grinding method called "electrolytic in-process dressing" (ELID) to prevent from clogging during grinding. We investigated the conditions for surface roughness reduction.
