Abstract
This paper presents a revolutionary method in μ-electrical discharge machining (μ-EDM) processes to increase the machining efficiency. In this system, nano-graphite powder was suspended in dielectric fluid. In addition, the workpiece was vibrated using PZT actuator. Nano graphite powder suspended dielectric fluid in μ-EDM processes was significantly speed up the machining time five times faster than in conventional μ-EDM processes. Experimental results have shown that, the machining time provided by nano graphite powder suspended dielectric fluid combined with workpiece vibration provide faster machining time. In fact, the machining time is even faster than using only nano graphite powder suspended dielectric fluid.
