Abstract
In recent years, efficient production by use of CAD/CAM systems draws attention in terms of the increase in products with high-variety low-volume. Finish cutting by square end mill is more efficient than that by ball end mill. Thus, the study deals with the proposal of new tool path generation method for five-axis controlled machining with square end mill by considering the cusp height and the machined volume. The method allows to determine the interference-free position and posture of end mill. As a result, it is found that the system developed in the study enables to decrease the machining time.
