Abstract
A cutting force prediction is very important to improve a machining error and a surface property, and to avoid a chatter vibration. A cutting process simulator based on a cutting force model for ball end mill operations has been developed so far. This paper describes a new approach to determine cutting coefficients, which are indispensable to predict the cutting force, for the cutting force model of ball end mills. A feasibility of the proposed method of the cutting coefficients determination is demonstrated in this paper.
