Abstract
To achieve high-precision machining with NC machine tools, their feed drive systems are required to minimize the position errors at the tool center point. When acceleration and deceleration occur, dynamic errors such as elastic deformation of the machine and mechanical vibration primarily cause those position errors. In this research, we discuss a suitable modeling of dynamic characteristics for a design of controllers that can suppress the errors. The experimental results indicate that appropriate design of the dynamic model leads to improvement of the motion accuracy of the tool center point.
