Abstract
Multi-material components (e.g., bimetallic components) are considered better than their monometallic counterparts in terms of sustainability. To get some insights into the machining characteristics of a bimetallic component, turning experiments have been conducted using some bimetallic specimens made of aluminum and titanium alloys, mild and stainless steels, and cast iron. The nonlinearity exhibited by the cutting force signals is analyzed from the perspective of time, frequency, and delay domains. How to estimate the machining power and represent the machining forces using fuzzy numbers have also been described.
