Abstract
Wrinkle and damage on the membrane have an effect on dynamic characteristics. The vibration and damping properties of wrinkled and crack square membranes under the forces at the corner are experimentally investigated. The experiments are performed in vacuum chamber and the responses are measured by laser displacement meter. First, when the tensile forces are the equal, the results indicate that the natural frequency is quite similar to tensile cable and the damping coefficient increase as forces increase. Next, the experiments of membranes under the different tensile forces show that positional relationship between wrinkle and measurement point has effect on natural frequency and damping coefficient. Finally, the results indicate that the effect of crack on natural frequency and damping coefficient is relatively small.
