Abstract
In late years the pellet stove attracts attention from the viewpoints of issues of global warming and increase of a crude oil price. The pellet stove is heating the air in a room using heat to be generated when the solid fuel called wood pellet burns. Because the pellet is made of wood materials, carbon dioxide does not increase as total. This study described the effects of four kinds of pellets on the performance of pellet stove under the various excess air ratio conditions, as the results, following conclusions were obtained. (1) Ecot pellet had highest performance among four kinds of pellets because of high heating efficiency. (2) The optimum value of excess air ratio is λ=2 at low heat load and λ=1.5 at high heat load. (3) When excess air ratio decreases, the stove surface temperature rises, and surface temperature distribution changes.
