Abstract
Most of bio diesel fuel (BDF) consists of some kinds of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), and the combustion characteristics of BDF is characterized by the composition of FAME. However, the fundamental combustion and emission characteristics of FAME are not so clear. Therefore, to understand the fundamental characteristics of spray combustion and emission of FAME, the spray flame was formed in the constant volume high temperature and high pressure vessel, and the heat release rate and emission characteristics were examined In this study, diesel oil was used as base oil, and methyl laurate, methyl oleate and methyl palmitate wots mixed with diesel oil from 0 wt-% (diesel oil) to 60 wt-% and they were used as the test fijel As a result, as the increase of mixing rate ofFAME, combustion period becomes slightly shorter. However the amount of CO emission and the NO_x emission were almost equivalent with those of diesel oil.
