Abstract
Recently, the teleoperation robot which transmits tactile sensation has actively been researched following visual and audio information. In order to transmit tactile sensation to a remote place, it is necessary to utilize a network. However, there are many problems in network, for example, communication delay, packet loss and packet number change. Moreover, in wireless mobile communication, there is a problem that the bit error rate and the jitter are increased by fading. In particular, successive burst loss and error also causes performance deterioration of the haptic communication. Therefore, this study pays attention to the burst error by fading in wireless haptic communication. In the communication industry, the adverse effects by fading are mainly dealt with by error correcting technologies of communication system. For example, there are convolutional code and viterbi decoding. However, this method cannot deal with burst loss and error. This paper evaluates optimal error correcting technologies of haptic communication system when burst loss occurs.
