Abstract
Analysis of thrombogenic process is very important in various devices used as temporary or permanent substitute of human organs. However, there is a lack of a system which can perform a real-time monitoring of thrombogenic activity. In this paper, we have proposed a system based on electrical tomography as electrical signals can respond to the change in protein concentration as well as the distribution of blood cells. That makes the analysis, from an early stage, of thrombogenic process possible. An experiment was performed in the static condition where citrated bovine blood was treated with calcium chloride. After the analysis of the results, it was possible to determine the time and place when the thrombogenic process was started, and thereby expanded. The results were in agreement with the experimental results where thrombogenic risk measured in terms of Activated Clotting time (ACT) had relationship with the change in electrical properties of the blood.
