Abstract
The aim of this study is pointing out the dominant factors causing distribution of mass concentration and temperature in single cell of polymer electrolyte fuel cell to propose the operation way for long life and high energy conversion efficiency power generation. We paid attention to heat transfer phenomena in single cell. We investigated the heat balance using the data of separator back temperature distribution obtained by thermograph for the single cell under power generation, resulting that we calculated the temperature of reaction surface in the cell. We also investigated the influence of gas flow rate at inlet and gas channel pitch of separator on heat transfer phenomena in single cell. Considering and comparing several heat balance models, we established the model that could simulate the heat transfer phenomena in actual single cell. The temperature of reaction surface calculated by the model was higher than measured separator back temperature by 1- 4 degrees.
